Heat and other stories

Use me
Use me
Never let me go

Hold still
After the kiss

After the kiss
Hold still

Breath, eyes, memory
Perfect
Perfect
Perfect

Perfect

And then things fall apart.

The hours
Counting backwards
Shatter me
And then things fall apart

Breath, eyes, memory
Strain
And then things fall apart

Never let me go
Where she went
After the kiss

After the kiss
Hold still

Napowrimo, day 10: “write a ‘book spine’ poem. This involves taking a look at your bookshelves, and writing down titles in order (or rearranging the titles) to create a poem.”

Sometimes you just let the book spines take you where they want you to go.

Not having my bookshelves, I used someone else’s. And rearranged them. The image is from author Nova Ren Suma’s 9 September 2012 blog post “Share Your Unedited Bookshelf!” With due consideration for the rules, I consider this a fair use of that image. 17 U.S. Code § 107.

    • I found it worked best with other people’s books. Possibly because too many of the books on my accessible shelves at the moment have titles like “The Evolution of a Planetary System” and “The Confederate and Neo-Confederate Reader” and “Reflections of Social Life in the Navajo Origin Myth.”

      And — thank you!
